About

With academic training spanning Evolutionary Biology, Toxicology and Neuroscience, J.J. Kochmanski has always marveled at how the environment impacts human health. He’s the lead author on 11 peer-reviewed scientific articles and has spent more time than he cares to admit pipetting liquids into vials, but now works as a data scientist investigating cancer treatments.

At home, he can be found chasing around a rambunctious labradoodle, playing with his son, and watching movies with his wife. He also enjoys running, traveling, and curling up with a good book.

Fiction writing became a hobby when he was in graduate school as a way to cope with long hours in the lab, but since then, it’s become a larger passion, and he sneaks in as much writing as he can on the daily. His science-fiction and fantasy stories leverage his background in computational biology to explore the interface between humans and technology. In this way, he hopes to not only entertain readers, but also cast a light on lesser seen themes and topics in SFF.
